Here are some Images from my life.
My name is Ann. My family and I live in Adelaide South Australia.
I was born at Largs Bay on the 2nd of January 1953.
At the time of my birth, my parents, brother (Barry-10 years older) and two sisters
(Fay-12 years older and Dawn- 6 years older) were living at Brown Street, Semaphore.
We lived there until I turned two years of age and then we moved to Warooka.
My Dad worked on a farm called 'Carrabie Station'. As young as I was,
I still remember most things that happened there. I loved the farm life
and loved all the animals. I guess that's why I'm such an animal lover now.
My dream, is to have a little hobby farm oneday, and have all kinds of animals
around me. (especially Goats and Great Dane Dogs... :)) ).
My mum and I used to take my brother and sisters to the school bus stop,
by Horse and Cart. That was a distance of about 5 or 6 kms. Then it was about 10
kms by bus to the school. I eventually went to that school when I turned 5 years old.
There were times when we all used to ride our bikes to the bus stop,
my bike was a tricycle...They (my brother and sisters) always used to leave me behind,
my little legs not as fast as theirs. I was never impressed...lol
Looking back on those times now though, I wouldn't change it for the world.
I loved the horse and carts, we had so much fun with the horses. We had three horses
that we could use, but there was one that was our favourite. Her name was Bess.
We left 'Carrabie Station' when I was 7 years old. We then moved to Moonta.
The move was caused by my Dad's ill health. We lived in Moonta for three years,
then at 10 years of age, we moved to Wallaroo.
At the age 0f 11, my Dad passed away, my sisters and brother had all moved out
of home by this time..The eldest two married and had children.
With the death of my Dad, my Mother and I went to many different places to live.
Travelling around heaps, staying with friends and family as my mother was
very insecure, the loss of her Husband had affected her badly.
We came to Adelaide, when I was 12 years old and I went to Tapperoo Primary school.
I went to Urrbrae Agriculture School for 3 months and then we moved again and I
then went to Elizabeth High for just a couple of months..I hated it there.
My Mum and I moved again and this time I ended up going to school at Thebarton
Girls Technical High. I loved it there and I was able to finish my school years there.
My Mum and I again moved back to Wallaroo, where I was able to find work and things
were good. When I was 16 years old, my Mum passed away and I came to Adelaide.
I lived with my sister Dawn at first, then I moved in with some friends till I got
married at 19 years of age.
